Beside their Bronze Award, choir received the special honour of being the final choir (out of 21) to perform at the Gala Concert— a performance of the Styx Mix which brought the 600 students to their feet (our greatest compliment).

(by Doug Brooks)

The standard was extremely high this year, yet the adjudicators chose not to award a Platinum Award. NEWS FLASH! The NZCF decided to award Platinum after all to the Fundamentals (Rangitoto College). YAY!!!!

Gold Awards went to the Craighead Chorale (Craighead School) and our buddies, Choralation! (Westlake Boys & Girls High Schools). See the full list below . . . >

Bella is extremely grateful to all of our supporters who travelled across the Ditch to hear us in the Town Hall (including our principal, Larry Ching), and to those who checked in online.

Most especially, this trip could not have been a success without the monumental efforts of the staff and parent helpers— who made sure the Mr. Burcin only had to worry about the music. Magic! And, of course, the students— who not only sang phenomenally well, but also kept up with all their responsibilities before being asked to do them.

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!

So–Now, we’ve got Silver, Bronze . . . , only 2 more to complete the set!

According to the adjudicators, James Tibbles (chief adjudicator), Steven Rowe, Robert Wiremu and Andrew Withington, the standard was higher than ever this year.

Bella competed at the Finale for the first time in 2007 in Christchurch, winning a Silver Award, and before that was a guest choir at the 2006 Finale in Auckland.

You can hear Bella’s performance from this year’s regionals in Blenheim, as well as previous Finale performances, on the Videos and Mp3s page.

Bella is also thrilled to see that our region’s original Bella, Bella Voce from Marlborough Girls College, is returning to compete in the Finale. We are both very proud to be representing the Nelson/ Marlborough region.

19 choirs are on the list to compete, plus 2 reserve and 2 guest choirs. All choirs are listed below.

The Finale takes place in Wellington from 21-24 August. Each choir will perform a lunchtime recital somewhere in the Wellington CBD, present 2 ten-minute recitals for adjudication and present one item at the Gala Concert.

The Gala Concert is Saturday 23 August at Wellington Town Hall. We would love to see heaps of supporters there!
